Business correspondence address
This is where you ask customers, suppliers and other senders to direct business post. It may be different from where you live or do the work.
A mailbox service gives you an address and a way to manage the post that arrives. Scanning lets you read your letters online; forwarding lets you receive the paper originals. Check what you can use the address for, which items the service handles and any additional charges.
Company registered office
A company’s registered office is its official address on the company register. It must meet Companies House requirements and be in the right part of the UK for where the company is registered.
Select our £5 + VAT monthly registered address add-on during signup with either mail plan to use Mailboxx as your company’s registered office. Our current service covers companies registered in England and Wales. Once your mailbox is approved and the add-on is active, use the address details we provide to update Companies House.
Official letters still need someone responsible for checking and acting on them. An address provider receives and handles post under the agreed service; it does not take over company filing responsibilities merely by supplying an address.
Director service address
A director’s service address is another company-record use. It is separate from the company’s registered office, even if the same physical address is used for both.
Mailboxx includes a director’s service address with either mail plan. You can use it without selecting the registered address add-on. Add that £5 + VAT monthly option if you also need your company’s registered office.
Residential and trading details
Your residential address identifies where you live. An organisation may need it for identity checks even if it accepts a separate address for post. A trading or operating address describes where business activity takes place, where that information is required.
A virtual mailbox gives you an address for post. Where an organisation asks for your home address or where your business operates, provide those details separately.
One example with several uses
A consultant working from home might use Mailboxx for supplier letters and read scans online. If they run a limited company, the plan includes a director’s service address and they can select the registered address add-on for their company’s registered office. They still provide their home address for identity checks.
You may be able to use the same physical address for several purposes. Confirm which uses your service covers before updating your records.
Make your address checklist
What type of business do you run?
Which senders and business materials need my new postal address?
Do you need a company registered office or director’s service address?
Which organisations still require residential or trading details?
Who will check the mail and act on official notices?
What is the total cost of the mail plan and address services I want?
Mailboxx can help you combine a mail plan with the address services that suit your business. Start with the uses on your list, then update company records once your mailbox is approved and the relevant address service is active.
